A healthy intact female cat can get pregnant well into her senior years. In my practice I’ve seen and even spayed pregnant female cats that were at least ten years old. According to the record books a 30 year old cat gave birth to two kittens in 1987 in England. The reproductive abilities of queens decline over time and the stress of pregnancy is not recommended for older females. Older female cats are at greater risk for developing uterine infection and may be at greater risk for uterine cancer. The 30 year old cat described above had over 200 kittens n her life time. Unless you are a professional breeder of pure bred cats that are not many good reasons for not spaying a cat. There are lots of cats and kittens waiting to be adopted. When in doubt, spay.

If not spayed, they breed till they die.
